(94/308) 832 - SQL plugin: does not handle aborting I/O threads

I'm using the FSB to attempt to connect to a remote SQL server using SQLVFS. Due to firewall configurations, my packets are not being ACKd. So I get long pause before a timeout.

I'd like to abort the I/O thread, so I went to I/O progress monitor, and aborted it. I got a dialog asking me if I was sure, I said yes. Then I'd expect the thread to abort, but it did not.
